Trust Paramount to Democracy

Democracy runs on trust. Public has great faith in different organs created by our constitution. Legislature, Judiciary and bubus are assigned different roles and responsibilities. These organs carry on the mandate of our constitution to enhance the public faith in them. But some collusion among different institutions- visible and invisible for self interest- is countering this. Any reduction of faith in our any organ is dangerous for our democracy. To check this down going trend of public in our institutions, some public and private individuals has taken good steps.
About truth Arthur Schopenhauer says “All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.” Some heads of Public offices having some independence tried to restore lost faith in their institutions. All have pass through three stages as aforesaid.
In 1990, T N Seshan as chief election commissioner tried to clean the dirt from election process.  He was opposed and his then good actions were called overstepping.  Then decried steps are tools of officials to conduct fair, free, bloodless and peaceful elections.  To give good tools to nation, what T N Seshan faced is need not to mention. Trust in election process for democracy is like blood for our body. No political reforms are in site, in spite of its utmost demand.
Passing an order by a babu or pronouncing a judgment without its proper implementation is meaningless. Many judgments are not implemented in the light of cause of action and judgment. Our present CJI and hon’ble judges took one new step. They try to ensure the implementation of judgments by monitoring it in court proceedings.  We are well aware of criticism of this good step of our lordships. This simple step helped a lot in restoring the public faith in judiciary. Our judiciary got praise for their step and is pubic hero in the pubic eyes like Seshan.
Public money is not spent because it has to be spent as passed in yearly budget. Money spent has to perform to achieve its aim for which it is allocated.  It must prove its utilities and services to benefit the masses for whom it is financially designed for.
Kudos to our present CAG Vinod Rai for his vision and mission of doing national service, he tried to point out the performance of the money spent. So, he started performance auditing along traditional procedural matters. For this good step, he is opposed on mandate issue.  As financial watchdog, he is now hero in public eye like Seshan.
In private sector, there are many examples. Aruna Roy started her work to fight against corruption by seeking official information from Rajsthan. After a long fight, she got an act as a tool in pubic hand to fight against corruptions.
Currently, Anna team is in limelight. They are criticized on many counts. But they had done many good services to the nation. One: made corruption a visible and national issue. Two: provided a vent to public to release negative energy built-up in body of citizens by different protests.  Three: give a start in organized form to fight against corruption. Four: did social marketing of corruption.
Baba Ram Deo is another current social player.  He is mainly denounced on his business activities.  He concentrated on bringing black money back, stashed abroad.  This is a big social issue and it is a byproduct of corruption. There are tones of business men equal to his turnover or more. But none did anything for any social issue. Even they are not discharging their CSR activities. We say nothing about them and we are criticizing him ignoring his good deeds and nation service.
Baba Ram Deo made Black money a visible, national and international issue. This is a great service to the public and nation. Hence, Baba deserves issue based support, which he must get to keep his fight.
Such public and private social activities are essentional. They clean the dirt of the public systems. This proves that our country is young, energetic and resilient. It also establishes our capacities to fight against anything which will harm us or our system. This establishes our might internationally.
